Kyle Pugh. July 26th, 2016 in Minneapolis.
Kyle Pugh is a self proclaimed hobo. He travels the country on trains, finding work where he can. I met Kyle through JR, another hobo who befriended me the day before.
“With the first train, came the first hobo. What you need to know is, there are three kinds of people: a hobo, who works and travels; a tramp, who dreams and travels; and a bum, who drinks and travels. It’s alright to be a tramp or hobo, but once you give up hope you become a bum. It’s a lifestyle. If you can’t respect your elders, then you don’t deserve to call yourself a hobo. You have to appreciate your traditions. America began by taking in a variety of peoples and bastardizing their cultures. One thing that America birthed, was the railroad industry. With the railroad, came the hobo. With the hobo, came the culture. And the hobo has respect.”
